A W H Special College - Kozhikode

AWH Special College was established in the year 1996 by the Association for Welfare of the Handicapped (AWH). This college is situated at Payyanakkal in Kozhikode district. The college is under the Calicut University . In 2009,Physiotherapy and Speech and Hearing Courses were taken over by the Kerala University of Health Sciences. Bachelor of Physiotherapy was started with an intake of 50 seats.  The College has got a good spacious computerized library, with required number of textbooks and journals.The clinical laboratory is well equipped to conduct biological and hematological investigations.Good facilities are offered for physiotherapy to enable the students for developing skills in basic exercises. The Association for Welfare of the Handicapped (AWH) is a major charitable voluntary organization working in Kerala. We are committed to educating self motivated academicians, geneticists, technical experts, scientists, social workers and health care professionals who are dedicated to serving the Indian and international community .The service of the Association is in the field of human resource development in the area of disability welfare.We provide hostel facility to the students and girls hostel is available in the campus itself.The College offers under-graduate and post-graduate programmes in physiotherapy and audiology and speech language pathology. We have other undergraduate B.Sc Programmes in computer science, electronics, and geology. We also provide PG programme in social work. All our courses are sanctioned by the Government of Kerala and are duly affiliated to the University of Calicut. There are excellent job opportunities for Physiotherapists in India and abroad. Hospital settings, Outpatient clinics, Community set ups, Sports centres; Rehabilitation schools and Academic institutions are a few of the Professional development areas in Physiotherapy. Electrotherapy and Exercise therapy labs are well equipped with Laser, SWD, Ultra sound, Tread mill, IFT, TENS, Tilt table etc..
