It is a private Ayurvedic medical college affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore and approved by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) / Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
The institution was established by the Latthe Education Society, which was founded in 1951. The college itself is often cited as starting operations in the early 2000s (around 2002) under this society’s initiative to provide Ayurvedic education in rural Karnataka.The college offers the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (BAMS) program (5½ years including internship), with an approved intake of about 60 students per year. Clinical exposure is integrated via the attached hospital.
