BAMS stands for Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. It is an undergraduate degree program in the field of Ayurveda, a traditional system of medicine that has its roots in ancient India. The BAMS course typically spans a duration of 5.5 years, including both theoretical and practical training. The academic program is divided into different phases.The BAMS curriculum includes subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, and Forensic Medicine. Ayurvedic subjects such as Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridaya are also part of the curriculum. The Clinical training is a significant component, where students gain hands-on experience in Ayurvedic diagnosis and treatment. After completing the academic program, students are required to undergo a one-year internship in Ayurvedic hospitals or clinics. During this period, they gain practical experience in treating patients under the supervision of experienced Ayurvedic practitioners.
