The Christian Institute for Technical Education, established in 1984 as a self-financing Polytechnic under the Directorate of Technical Education Tamil Nadu, operates under the auspices of the Christian Education, Health & Development Charitable Society, Ambilikkai. Registered under No. 17/1984 dated 05-10-1976, I.T. 12, A.No.177 of 09-12-1976, this minority institute is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) vide Ref .F. No. 418 GEN E&T 98 dt. Jan.22.1999.
The roots of the institution trace back to over three decades ago when a group of Indian Christian Medical Doctors founded the Christian Fellowship Society to deliver quality, affordable healthcare to the rural communities of Oddanchatram and Ambilikkai. Over time, this society expanded its services to include education and economic development, officially registering as the Christian Education Health and Development Society under the Societies Act 27S.No of 1974.
The Society's commitment to healthcare is evident through its medical treatment facilities, including the CFCH Hospital in Ambilikkai. The hospital offers a range of specialties, including surgery, medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, TB, leprosy, dermatology, urology, nephrology, ENT, and cancer units. To extend primary healthcare, the Society operates 24 Mini Health Centers strategically located around Ambilikkai, Oddanchatram, and neighboring Panchayat Union blocks, emphasizing preventive and promotional healthcare services. The Christian Institute for Technical Education thus emerges as an institution deeply rooted in the values of healthcare, education, and community development.
