The college was formed in order to provide education and training, research and development, and consultancy. The college is promoted by the Co-operation Department of the government of Kerala College of Engineering, Kidangoor (CEK), Kottayam. The college is governed by the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education established by the Government of Kerala. College of Engineering offers 4 year B. Tech programme having various courses namely Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering.
For admission, the candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination of Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or examination recognized equivalent thereto, with 45 % marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or / Computer Science/ Biology put together are eligible to Management and NRI seats. SC/ST candidates need only a pass in qualifying examination for admission to B Tech courses. College has experienced and dedicated faculties for conducting the classes. A good spacious library having a collection of more than 25000 books, 60 journals / magazines and E-journal consortium. The college also has a collection of 2920 Electronic books. Separate hostel facilities are available for boys and girls. Boys hostel can accommodate 135 students and girls hostel can accommodate 145 students. Neat and tidy rooms and hygienic facilities are available for providing homely ambience. The mess facilities in the hostels are designed to provide tasty and hygienic food. All these hostels are fully under the control of college PTA.
