The Gandhigram Institute of Rural Health and Family Welfare Trust (GIRH&FWT) was established in the year 1964 by Dr. T.S. Soundram Ramachandran. With support from Government of Tamil Nadu, Government of India and Ford Foundation. Realizing that healthy living status of the community can improve economic status and improve quality of life, the institute improves the community health through its innovative strategies. Diploma in Health Promotion and Education is a one year post graduate course for developing Health Promotion and Education Specialists.
Gandhigram Institute of Rural Health and Family Welfare Trust has a spacious library which undertakes many responsibilities and performs varied functions and it plays a vital role to our education and research by providing invaluable resource for knowledge and services. The college library provides more number of seats are available for all library users. Library has good ventilation and lighting facilities. The college provides a good environment for reading the resources and Wi-Fi connectivity available in the library campus. Library has very good collection of back volumes in some journals. Most of the back volumes focused on Demography, Economic and Political Weekly, Epidemiology, Family Planning, Health Sciences, Medical Research, Nursing, Nutrition, Preventive Medicine and Public Health.
