This scheme aimed to establish new Polytechnic institutions in districts lacking such colleges. Subsequently, the Government of India identified seven districts in Tamil Nadu—Theni, Thiruvarur, Villupuram, Thiruvannamalai, Dharmapuri, Karur, and Perambalur—for assistance in opening Polytechnic Colleges in the Government sector.
