Government Thiruvavar Medical college was established in the year 2010. The college is under the affiliation of The TN Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai, State of Tamil Nadu, India, and is wholly administered by the Government of State of Tamil Nadu. The Institute is a Medical Teaching Institute Recognized by the Medical Council of India, New Delhi, India.
The MBBS course is rigorous and demands dedication, hard work, and a genuine passion for medicine. Upon completion, graduates can pursue postgraduate studies in various specialties, such as surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, etc., or start practicing medicine after obtaining the necessary licenses and certifications. A good spacious library is functioning with wide collection of books, journals, reference books of national and international authors, journals, magazines. The college also has the facilities for volleyball, basketball, badminton, and football and indoor games like carom, chess, and table tennis. There is an auditorium with capacity of 1200-person and has modern amenities. The College has well furnished separate hostels for girls and boys with all essential facilities.
