The Government Unani Medical College, Chennai conducts B.U.M.S. (Under graduate) course affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai. The initial annual intake of students from the inception of the College is 26, In the year 2016 the BUMS seats have been increased from 26 to 60. The selection is based as per the rules framed by the Government of Tamil Nadu for the selection of professional courses following guidelines of Central Council of Indian Medicine(CCIM), New Delhi, (An autonomous body regulating the educational standards under the Dept. of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. India).
The college has spacious & well furnished classrooms with necessary instructional aides such as Over Head Projectors, LCD projector white boards, etc. Library is spacious enough to cater not only to the existing needs but also accommodates resources & services for future requirements.
