To cater to the needs of people in and around Kanyakumari District, the Tamil Nadu Government decided to start a new Medical College at Kanyakumari District. Government accorded sanction for the establishment of the new Government Medical College at Kanyakumari District during the year 2001-2002 with an annual intake of 100 students in MBBS Course. The foundation stone also was laid for the same on 12.03.2001 by the then Honourable Minister for Health and Family Welfare. Accordingly the Government of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi issued permission to start a Medical College at Asaripallam in Kanyakumari District. Govt. Kanyakumari Medical College & Hospital provide Quality health service in a timely and competent manner. Health services shall be provided in a fair, respectful and professional manner consistent with the available human resources and infrastructure. The college ensure tertiary care services and maximum possible super specialty services to all the patients coming to Kanyakumari Government Medical College and Hospital.
Govt. Kanyakumari Medical College & Hospital has a spacious library which is stocked with relevant textbooks, research journals, and resources. The clinical Training Facilities is in collaboration with hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centers for practical training.
Computer facilities is used to access to databases, software, and resources for research and learning.
