Jam’iyyat Da’wa Tablighul Islam, also known as JDT Islam, stands as a charitable educational institution with a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1922. This esteemed institution is under the management of a registered committee and holds recognition from both central and state governments. It is renowned as one of the oldest orphanages in the Malabar region of Kerala, India.
Originally founded as a refuge for the unfortunate children affected by the historical ‘Wagon Tragedy’ during the Malabar rebellion under colonial rule, JDT Islam was established by intellectual stalwarts such as Janab Abdul Kader Kasoori from Punjab. The primary objective was to provide welfare and care to countless orphans and destitute children nationwide, aiming to uplift them from educational and economic backwardness.
Over the years, JDT Islam has evolved significantly, gaining recognition and acclaim throughout the Malabar region. The institution has played a vital role in the welfare and education of orphans, leaving a lasting impact on the community. Having completed over 99 years of excellence, JDT institutions have also contributed to healthcare services for over 15 years.
The noteworthy contributions of JDT Islam were acknowledged on a national level when the President, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, presented the National Award for Child Welfare-2011 to JDT Islam Orphanage & Educational Institutions in Calicut, Kerala, during the Children’s Day celebration in New Delhi on November 14, 2012. This recognition underscores the institution's commitment to child welfare and its significant role in making a positive impact on society.
