Established in 1995, Mannaniya College of Arts and Science is a distinguished institution affiliated with the University of Kerala. Located in the historic village of Pangode, near the Western Ghats and Thiruvananthapuram district, the college is a testament to the visionary efforts of Muslim scholars from the Jamia Mannaniya Islamiya Charitable Society. Spanning 16 acres of lush greenery, the scenic campus fosters an ideal atmosphere for learning and growth. The college began its academic journey on July 3, 1995, with BA Islamic History, B.Sc. Polymer Chemistry, and B.Com Co-operation, later expanding its curriculum to meet the evolving educational needs.
Over the years, Mannaniya College has broadened its academic scope, introducing B.Com Travel and Tourism in 1999, M.Com in 2013, and restructuring the B.Sc. Polymer Chemistry program into B.Sc. Chemistry in 2014. Recognized under UGC’s 2(F) and 12(B) status since 2004 and granted minority status by NCMEI in 2010, the institution has grown both in quality and quantity. Since its first batch graduated in 1998, the college has nurtured numerous alumni contributing significantly across various societal spheres. Currently, with an enrollment of around 600 students, it serves the hilly panchayats of Thiruvananthapuram, fostering inclusivity beyond class, caste, creed, and religion.
The institution is deeply committed to uplifting educationally challenged communities, empowering backward classes, and providing education to women and tribal populations. It upholds democratic and secular ideals, moral integrity, and communal harmony. By offering liberal education to economically weaker sections, particularly women, the college promotes academic excellence, financial independence, and social responsibility. Through a balanced approach to academics, skill development, and character formation, Mannaniya College has consistently excelled in curricular and extracurricular pursuits.
As the college celebrated 25 years of academic excellence in 2020, it continues to stand as a beacon of hope for socially and economically disadvantaged students. Rooted in the compassionate vision of the Jamia Mannaniya Charitable Society, it remains dedicated to shaping well-rounded individuals equipped with knowledge, values, and the skills to contribute meaningfully to society.
