Originally affiliated with the University of Travancore, Mar Ivanios College has been proudly associated with the University of Kerala since 1957. It holds the distinction of being the first institution within the University of Kerala to receive accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 1999. Demonstrating its commitment to quality, the college achieved the remarkable feat of being the first to undergo re-assessment and re-accreditation, securing an "A" grade from NAAC in 2004. Subsequently, in 2011, the institution underwent re-assessment during the third cycle, once again earning an "A" grade.
Mar Ivanios College has further distinguished itself by obtaining the coveted status of College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) from the UGC, marking a significant milestone in its academic journey.
