His mission aimed to challenge discriminatory practices against backward class communities and advocate for equal opportunities for all individuals.
Inspired by the principles and teachings of Sree Narayana Guru, Sri R. Sankar, a distinguished educationalist and former Chief Minister of Kerala, envisioned the establishment of a nationally reputable technical institution. His goal was to address disparities in society and ensure equal educational opportunities for everyone.
Incorporating Guru's profound principles such as "Become enlightened through education," "Become strengthened through organization," and "Become prosperous through hard work," Sree Narayana Polytechnic College commenced its journey in 1957. The inaugural year witnessed the admission of 120 students across three branches: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. The institution flourished, further expanding in 2000 with the addition of a branch in Electronics Engineering.
The year 2006 marked the golden jubilee celebration of the institution, reflecting its significant contributions to education. Affiliated with the State Board of Technical Education, approved by AICTE, and managed by the Sree Narayana Trusts Kollam, the college is committed to fostering an egalitarian society through technical education. The core values instilled include social enlightenment, economic stability, entrepreneurship, and freedom.
Sree Narayana Polytechnic College stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Sree Narayana Guru and continues to shape individuals who contribute to the ideals of equality and enlightenment in society.
