Sri Rajiv Gandhi Polytechnic College, established in July 2008, is the result of the visionary efforts of Dr. Makkal G. Rajan, an eminent public service motivator and M.C.A. by profession. Driven by a passion for public service and education, he founded the college under the aegis of the Saraswathi Educational and Charitable Trust.

With a distinguished career in Polytechnic education spanning nine years, Dr. Makkal G. Rajan has held various roles, starting as a lecturer and progressing to become the Head of the Department, Administrative Officer, and presently serving as the Correspondent & Secretary.
