The Mahendra Educational Trust was established in the year 1978 by Shri. M. G. Bharath Kumar, with the aim of providing high standard of education to rural children. Mahendra Institute of Technology was established in 2007 by the Mahendra Educational Trust under the visionary leadership of renowned educationalist Shri. M.G. Bharath Kumar.

Mahendra Institute of Technology was established in 2007 by the Mahendra Educational Trust under the visionary leadership of renowned educationalist Shri. M.G. Bharath Kumar, is the Chairman of the Trust. The college is approved by All India Council for Technical Education and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The college offers eight undergraduate programmes and three postgraduate programmes in Engineering & Technology. The college has research centers' in Mechanical Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering through which doctorate programmes are offered.
Qualified and experienced teaching faculties are conducting the classes. All the classrooms are well furnished with comfortable seats. The College has its own buses that ply from places such as Erode, Attur, Salem, Kannankurichi, Komaramangalam, Konganapuram, Namakkal, Rasipuram, Tharamangalam and other places. The College has a spacious and airy Canteen. It provides a variety of wholesome, tasty snacks and food at a reasonable price. The Canteen also provides packaged snacks items, bakery products, soft drinks to the taste and requirements of the students and staff. Separate Hostel facilities are available for Boys and Girls. The rooms are furnished with Table, Chair, Cot and Fan.
